The Colchester Fund

Procedure for Distribution of Funds:  The Colchester Fund is held by the Midwest Unitarian Universalist Foundation (MUUF).  Each year the income available for distribution is determined by MUUF. Funds are then sent to Meadville Lombard in March, based upon the approved allocation at the previous annual meeting, to be used for scholarships for Unitarian Universalist seminary student(s) from the Midwest.  In some cases the Colchester Funds are combined with other funds to be awarded to a seminarian.

Criteria for Granting of Funds: Upon sending the funds to Meadville Lombard, MUUC grants the right to choose the recipient of the funds to Meadville Lombard with three requirements in place: the recipient be a second or third year student who has a history of success and a proven academic record, MUUC receives the name and very brief biography (one paragraph) of the recipient, and that MUUC receives a short report at the end of the school year as to how the funds helped.  MUUC does not want to place an undue burden upon the recipient and also recognizes Meadville Lombard’s knowledge of its students and their needs.
