Mrs. Iva Laughlin

Mrs. Iva Giles Laughlin, who died in January 1904, was an active and inspiring Universalist laywoman.

Following the death of her husband in 1898, she was an active member of the Ryder Memorial Church (Universalist) at Sheridan Avenue and 64th Street in Chicago. The minister was the Rev. Frederick J. Millar, who served the church from 1896 to 1903 before accepting a call from the Universalist Church in Sycamore, Illinois.

Mrs. Laughlin was inspired by Rev. Millar to put her time and means at the disposal of his parish, aiding in its philanthropic work and in the Sabbath school, donating service, books and hymnals and a stereopticon, and giving liberally to all its departments.
