The Munroe Husbands Grant

The Munroe Husbands grant program will help fund, in part or full, lay-led congregation initiatives.

Examples of activities/projects that may be funded by a grant include:

  • Attendance at Leadership Schools, Regional Conferences, General Assemblies, or workshops (e.g. membership growth, stewardship, community outreach, religious education, etc.)
  • Funding to help organize a workshop or conference for lay-led congregations.
  • Educational materials and resources, especially those addressing the needs of lay-led congregations.
  • Establishing a working relationship with a minister-led congregation, including preliminary consulting visits by that minister.
  • Developing communication tools (e.g., website, Facebook page, etc.) and activities to support outreach and growth.
  • Implementing theme-based ministry.
  • Other innovative projectsthat might effectively be replicated in other lay-led congregations.

Grants can be used to reimburse expenses recently incurred or to fund pending expenditures. The grants, however, are limited to discrete, one-time requests, not ongoing support. Grants will be made based on need. Individuals can expect a decision on their application within 4 to 6 weeks.

Grant applications must be approved by the Board of the Congregation prior to submission.

Checks for grants will generally be made to the congregation and not to individuals.
